The Simple Wild is a contemporary romance novel that follows Calla Fletcher, a city girl who travels to Alaska to reconnect with her estranged father, who is dying of cancer. Calla has never been close to her father, Wren, who left her and her mother when she was two years old to pursue his passion as a bush pilot in the Alaskan wilderness. Calla has grown up in Toronto, living a comfortable and modern life, but she decides to give her father a chance to make amends before it’s too late. However, when she arrives in Alaska, she realizes that she is out of her element in this harsh and remote environment. She also has to face Jonah, a rugged and grumpy pilot who works for her father’s charter plane company.

Jonah is the opposite of everything Calla is used to, and he doesn’t hesitate to let her know that he thinks she is a spoiled and pampered princess who doesn’t belong in Alaska. Jonah is determined to fly Calla back to Toronto as soon as possible, but Calla is stubborn and wants to prove him wrong. As they spend more time together, they start to develop a mutual respect and understanding, and eventually a strong attraction and chemistry. Calla finds herself falling for Jonah, and for the simple and wild life that he represents. She also begins to bond with her father, and to appreciate his love for Alaska and for flying.
